GRAND VIEW July/August
How about our cover girl, the invincible Judy George? Not sure you can place the name? Judy is the brains (and vision and guts) behind some popular home furnishing brands that you probably know.
I was honored to interview Judy and deeply moved as she shared her all-American success story. From the time she was a little girl, Judy had a passion for design, for decorating, for shaping her environment to reflect what she felt inside.
We know how often children abandon their dreams for more practical pursuits as they grow, but Judy had the drive to turn hers into reality and re-shape the world of home design. Judy’s bold and forward-looking attitude has her making business magic again, this time joining her sons to bring a unique new hair product to the market. She’s my new role model!
Judy’s design personality quiz will help you to discover your design ‘type’. It turns out that I’m an ‘Idealist’ and it is right on target. Find yours here.
This summertime issue covers some hot topics: Bob & Judith Wright provide techniques for loving your family at gatherings while avoiding unhappy drama; Jerry Witkovsky gives us valuable clues for connecting with our grandkids and Deanna Schoss helps us get a grip on our personal approach to technology. GRAND traveler, Sandy Bornstein takes us on a multigenerational adventure with her expat grandbaby to meet American wildlife. Lots of ideas in here!
We’re excited to introduce three new contributors; Wendy Schuman, former editor for Parents Magazine is now a grandmom, and shares her ‘going grey’ challenge.
You’ll learn about Jeff Rubin’s crusade to end ageism and Dr. Leonard Sax shares what happens when he invites his in-laws to move in. This is just a sample of what’s in store. It’s hot out, so grab a cool drink and enjoy a few minutes with GRAND.
With my best to you and your family,
Christine Crosby – Editorial Director
