YaYa
My mom and my husband were sitting in church together while our Greek pastor was talking about his mom whom his children call Yia Yia (see below). My husband and mother decided that would be a great name for me, but more in the spirit of the YaYa Sisterhood. The great part is my g-kids can pronounce it. The funny part is my mom is called grandma so whenever grandma is mentioned around them they look for my mom. It’s a fun one!

The most commonly used Greek term for grandmother is yia-yia, sometimes rendered as ya-ya. Some sources list nona for a grandmother.

Yia-Yia
Greek for grandmother
- Linda
