PTC Joins Call for Oxygen to Cease Development of All My Babies’ Mamas
Every time we think that the television industry couldn’t possibly stoop any lower, sadly one of the networks steps forward to prove us wrong. The Parents Television Council is joining with other groups and individuals across the country calling for the Oxygen cable network to cease any further development of the television program, All My Babies’ Mamas.
This kind of “reality” programming is the worst kind of toxic cultural pollution. Such grotesquely irresponsible programming exploits and promulgates a harmful and negative stereotype while communicating the message to millions of impressionable young viewers that this is behavior to be celebrated — and even land you your own reality show!
If you agree, please take action now by signing the petition.
A petition on Change.org started by author, producer and activist Sabrina Lamb calling on Comcast/NBCUniversal to cease any further development of this television project, has already garnered more than 20,000 signatures. The PTC is proud to join its voice with a growing chorus of groups and individuals across America who are concerned about the harmful and exploitive messaging of this television project.
Our voices combined with tens of thousands of others can make a difference.
But we need your help. Take a moment to take action and let Oxygen know that this program would undermine children and families.
If Oxygen moves forward with the program, we will be contacting every corporate sponsor that buys advertising time on the Oxygen network to hold them accountable as well.
Whether your child watches this program or not, programs like this set the bar ever-lower for what passes for entertainment on broadcast and cable television. We cannot let it stand… Because Our Children Are Watching.
