Today’s grandparents and grandkids are more environmentally conscience then ever before. Many folks are joining the chicken movement which has exploed with people raising their own chickens in both urban and surburban areas. Raising our own chickens enables us to take control of sustainability in our eating and allows us to know where our food comes from. Eggs from home raised chickens are fresher than any you’ll find in a grocery store or restaurant and better yet, they’re free. I really hate the idea of buying eggs from those commercial hatcheries where live animals are kept in cages.
In our household, we collect our food waste and take them across the street to our neighbors who are raising chickens. I always feel so good knowing that our food waste is not wasted, but instead is going back into the cycle of life. In return, our neighbors bring over fresh, organic eggs for us to enjoy! A pretty good deal, I’d say!
Chickens are also great pets, fun to watch and fun to have around. Now it’s easier than ever with the smart techniques and approaches prescribed by one of America’s best hatcheries, Murray McMurray Hatchery.
Murray McMurray Hatchery has been sending out hardy, healthy and terrific birds for home flocks for nearly 100 years and is one of the biggest and best names in the industry. We ship more than two million chickens and other fowl each year. With this comes knowledge on how to raise fun and productive chickens the easy way, from simple feeding to the best coops to easy watering, hygiene, and pest control.
