While visiting Old Orchard Beach, Maine, last week, my family and I stopped into a wonderful little restaurant called Venetia’s for breakfast. We were greeted by a super courteous young man and waited on my a lovely and efficient young lady named Melissa.
When I asked about the origin of the name of the restaurant, Melissa informed us that it was named after the owner and chef, her 80 year old grandmom, who was the chef and currently in the kitchen! Venetia’s has been family owned and operated since 1970. Melissa proudly stated that all of the other grandchildren either currently work in the restaurant (like the young man who seated us) or have in the past, along with their parents. Now, that’s what I call a family business!
We were delighted when Venetia herself made an appearance and we immediately saw why this family has been so successful. She’s a vibrant woman of Greek origin who exuded that wonderful old world charm of a loving YaYa (grandmother in Greek) and savvy business owner.
Venetia’s is located just up the street from the famous Old Orchard Pier at 93 West Grand Avenue, Old Orchard Beach, Maine. We highly recommend this restaurant.
