Who will remember you when you’re dead and gone? Will your legacy simply fill a rectangle on a family tree or will the people on the lower branches remember who you were, where you were born, what school you attended, your struggle, the endearments you called your spouse, your favorite ice [...] The other day my 20 month-old grandson wagged his one and one-quarter inch pointer finger at me, in admonishment. I didn’t need to ask where he learned it—he got it from me. My inner grandmother cringed. Since when had I become the disciplinarian in this scenario? Even though I have been his primary caregiver for over one year, my role was secondary that long day in the hospital.
