KALBI (KOREAN BBQ BEEF SHORT RIBS)
Ingredients
5 lbs beef short ribs
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup Sprite or Coke
2 Tbsp garlic
2 tsp black pepper
2 Tbsp sesame oil
2 green onions, sliced
2 slices kiwi (optional)
Preparation
- Soak the meat in water 2 hours to drain out the blood. Rinse.
- Mix together sugar, soy sauce, water, Sprite, garlic, pepper, sesame oil and onions. (You can add kiwi for extra softness.) If you need more marinade, just keep the ratio of soy sauce, water and Sprite the same.
- Marinate meat for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Grill or pan-fry. If you grill, remember this thin-cut meat will cook quickly - just a few minutes on each side. If you pan-fry, you can add white onion as well.
