Reel Reading

Whenever a new movie gets advertised that is based on a book appropriate for their age group, I promise my grandkids to take them as soon as it is released IF they read the book first. This also opens discussion on which they liked better, and what the differences were and why the movie-makers made any changes. The book often gives insights to the characters’ inner thoughts and feelings that go deeper than the movie can portray. My father got me to read Hamlet before taking me to the Richard Burton movie, and I have never forgotten the experience.
