Got a Minute? Grab a Grandchild and This Book!

Remy Agee I’ve got it! The answer to the age old question: “What can I do with my grandchildren?” It’s different, fun and educational for both grandparents and grandchildren. All wrapped up in one paperback book.

By Remy Agee

Here’s the format:

Short brain teasers in story form that require listening and the use of science and everyday knowledge related to science to solve a mystery. Each one-minute mystery covers earth, space, life, physical, chemical and general science.  Each selection is written on one page with the solution and a black-and-white illustration on the back.

While the stated focus is science, it’s more about the scientific process….applying knowledge to solve a problem.  Read together, then try to figure out the answer before turning the page. Hard to read just one!

My grandson loves snakes, so he really enjoyed – and solved! – the mystery about a long, thin object crawling around the school playground.  Was it a snake or something else?  Would the principal have to cancel recess?  Get the book and discover how this mystery was solved.

When you read and share these one minute mysteries with your grandchildren, they’re learning much more than science.  They’re developing or improving skills needed for success in school and later life, includingbook one minutes mysteries blog

While One Minute Mysteries: 65 Short Mysteries You Solve With Science! (by Eric and Natalie Yoder) is recommended for ages 8-12, many reviewers with children  and grandchildren as young as 5 found it a fun and worthwhile activity.  This paperback book also is available on Kindle.
