Grandparents who read aloud? It doesn’t get any better!
In honor of Grandparents’ Day on September 8, GRAND magazine, Read Aloud 15 MINUTES non-profit, and I See Me! personalized children’s books are co-sponsoring a photo contest for all those fabulous Read Aloud Grandmas and Grandpas.
Readers who submit a photo of a favorite grandparent reading aloud to a lucky little one will be entered to win a gift certificate for a free “My Very Own Name” custom book, including shipping ($45 value). All photo contest entrants and their friends will be able to vote for their favorite pictures, and the top 10 vote getters will win prizes. Click here to enter.
GRAND magazine is proud to be a partner of Read Aloud 15 MINUTES, a non-profit organization that encourages every parent to read aloud to their child every day, starting at birth. Researchers agree reading aloud is the single most important activity parents, grandparents, and caregivers can do to promote early brain development and lifelong learning success. Unfortunately, fewer than half the children under age 5 in our country are read aloud to every day. At current kindergarten readiness levels, over the next decade, 15 million children will start school at the lowest level of learning readiness — putting them at greatest risk for reading delays and school failure.
