Conversations with grandparent, Lori Bitter and readers.
Jack is a retired teacher. He was a writer for a boomer and senior publication. He and his wife do water aerobics to stay fit. Most important, he gave his only daughter the greatest gift. When his granddaughter was born – the year he retired from teaching – he decided to become her primary caregiver. She got a loving grandfather to care for her through her middle school years and he got an incredible emotional lift from her. Now he gets to celebrate again! Jack became a first time great grandfather on Super Bowl Sunday!
Judy lives in an active adult community with a health club. She got started in cardio/weight classes with her friends. Since 2000 she has been into tap dancing (my favorite thing too!) and loves it! She’s dropped three dress sizes! Judy had life long weight issues, and was teased as a child. Her positive outlook fueled her desire to change. She just entered her state’s Senior Olympics!
I heard from Hank and Linda too. Hank has had some health problems recently, but he and Linda are going to court to gain custody of their granddaughters. Our journey as parents and grandparents is not always rosy. Sometimes it is a struggle.

Your stories inspire me – and our GRAND readers. Don’t forget to post them on Facebook!
