Learning to Learn
By Linda Schumacher
They were two physically tiring, emotionally blessing weeks this summer
My tech savvy 10 year old granddaughter lived in our spare bedroom
Her Ipad and Iphone
were never far from her side
We gave the gift of learning to each other
She taught me the perils of Pinterest
and the facets of Facebook
I taught her to crochet and how to
appreciate the lacy beauty of dragonflies
one afternoon while we sat by a pond observing nature
Walking back to the car
We both realized
Gifts can be exchanged anytime
And they don’t always have to be wrapped in shiny paper
Linda Schumacher makes her home in Edgerton, WI with husband, Bruce. This poem was inspired by her granddaughter, Kinsley.
