CYBER-SENIORS chronicles the humorous and heartwarming journey of these enthusiastic senior citizens as they discover the world of the Internet. Their exploration of cyberspace is catapulted to a new level when 89-year-old Shura decides to create a YouTube cooking video.

A spirited video competition for the most “views” evolves as the cyber-seniors’ hidden talents and competitive spirits are revealed. And the kids who know so much about computers and social media learn something too: that there’s no substitute for real life experience.
Praise for this remarkable work has been universal. “If there’s a film that will make you want to finally accept that friend request from your grandparents, this one is it,” said Katherine Vu in The Village Voice. The Christian Science Monitor‘s Peter Rainer said, “Forget Facebook friends. The friendships forged in this movie, which come alive before our eyes, are the real deal.” “CYBER-SENIORS isn’t just a window on an unlikely alliance of polar generations but also a celebration of discovery,” said Doris Toumarkine ofFilm Journal International.
AARP and Mentor Up (a new way to make a difference from AARP Foundation), partnered with Cyber-Seniors this Fall to host 16 screenings in ten communities, followed by discussion and youth-led tech trainings. Engaging over a thousand older adults and young people, the events received rave reviews with requests to hold more screenings and interest in building similar intergenerational programs in communities. In 2015, the partnership will continue to raise awareness about the digital divide and support younger generations through volunteerism and community service to enhance the lives of older adults through technology literacy.
A testament to the fact that you’re never too old to learn something new, curious seniors delve into the wonders of the World Wide Web with the help of thoughtful teenage mentors in the feel-good documentary CYBER-SENIORS.The winning directorial debut by actress Saffron Cassaday will be available on VOD and Digital Download on January 27, 2015.
