By Paul Stewart
If she was home-made preserves,
She would be the sweetest, tastiest jar on the table.
If she was a basket of hand-rolled biscuits,
She would be gone the instant they hit the table, too.
If she was a children’s bedtime story,
She would keep you transfixed to the tale’s end.
If she was a lullaby, singing to you,
She could open your dreams, before you closed your eyes.
If she was your favorite warm blanket,
She could make you feel the arms of God around you.
If she was a comfy soft couch to rest on,
She would hold you gently and give you peace.
If she was a book just you could read,
She would teach you things you remember for life.
If she was a bottle of medicine to take,
She could wipe away pain with the touch of her hand.
If all this sounds just too good to be true,
Then keep this in mind, whatever you do,
Grandmas are special, you can bet it’s true,
They’re God’s special givers, given to you.
So when they take time to hold you hand,
Or listen when you hurt, they’ll understand,
They’re ambassadors of Love in God’s Great Plan,
By teaching you to Love, like the Son of Man.
May you feel the warmth and peace she shared with all of you,
and may you always keep her love alive in your hearts, too.
