Robert Redford – A Climate Concerned Grandfather

Academy Award-winning screen legend and Sundance Film Festival creator Robert Redford recently addressed the United Nations in a plea to focus on climate change, which he calls a “moral imperative.” He introduced himself as an “environmental advocate, but also a father (of three), a grandfather (of seven!), and a concerned citizen.”

Robert RedfordNoting that he’s been an activist for more than forty years, he reported that, “the urgency I felt when I began (to save our planet before it’s too late) has only grown stronger.” He urges the world leaders, who will meet in December, to create a “common goal” to save our planet. When it comes to stirring passion for the planet, you can’t get much better than the intelligent, eloquent, and divine Robert Redford?

Plus, is it just us, or are environmental activists beyond sexy? Clearly Redford is, but we also like contemporaries Jane Goodall (wildlife), Al Gore (climate change), Sylvia A. Earle (oceans), Sting (rainforest), Ted Danson (oceans), Ed Begley, Jr. (solar energy), Brad Pitt (green building materials), Isabella Rossellini (wildlife), Daryl Hannah (sustainability), Michael Bloomberg (sustainable cities, clean energy), Alice Waters (organic food), and anyone else who champions causes that will benefit our grandchildren’s lives.
