I’ve Got A New Drug Dealer And I’m Feeling Fine
By Christine Crosby, Editorial Director – GRAND Magazine
Can one live a truly GRAND Life while having one’s marrow sucked out by Big Pharma, the vampire pill pusher? Is being ripped off on meds inevitable?
I found a better solution and I’m going to share it, for no gain except satisfaction. And a little revenge. Some say that’s bad for you, but so far, no problems at all. Maybe a slight giddy feeling.
76% is the magic number…. that’s what I just saved on a prescription. Let me explain.
My husband, Jonathan, and I take very few meds, but there is one that I assumed came from unicorn tears. It has gone up every month from $78 to $154 (the latest). That’s for one month. Jonathan has purchased meds in the past from a supplier in Canada, but this one was not available. Not all are.
This last price hike put him back in search mode and there it was. The price; $112 for THREE months! Including shipping. That is $37 per month vs $154. Maybe this is the cause of the giddy.
This is the exact same stuff/brand only it’s from New Zealand…a name brand manufacturer. Deliveries take a couple of weeks, so don’t wait til the last minute. Prescriptions from US doctors are easy…they do it all the time.
If you’ve heard that ‘foreign prescriptions can’t be trusted’, consider the source of that warning. What does Big Pharma have to lose if we all start shopping around? In this case, a 300% markup over a competitor, who is presumably already making a good profit. That’s what they have to lose. If I had a racket like that, maybe I’d bribe Congress to hang onto it too. I’ll never know. Or ‘it goes to research’. Hmmm…. OK, but since we’re obviously paying for it, why do the patents belong to the vamps?
Speaking of shopping around, Jonathan recommends doing just that…among the many Canadian companies, prices vary. This company is called North Drug Store. The phone number is 866 940=3784, and of course, they have a website.
I encourage you to bite back and shop with our friends to the north. Spend those savings on your own GRAND Life.
