BY DEBBY CARROLL – The Moments That Matter
“Grammy, I want you to come here every week forever.”
Recently I was talking to my four-year-old grandson about our weekly babysitting routine. My husband and I are his daycare on Mondays and Tuesdays when his mom and dad are at work and we travel an hour and a half to report for duty. But, since his baby brother was born in November, and Mommy is home for a few months, our daycare services aren’t needed. We’ve been going quite often to help out, but I was alerting him to the fact that during the next few months, we might not be there every week.

He looked distressed. So, I said, “Why the sad face, did you still want us to come every week, even though Mommy is home?”
He looked at me in the way only a four-year-old can, with those eyes reflecting nothing but love, trust, and joy, and he said, ““Grammy, I want you to come here every week forever.”
I’m sure I don’t have to describe how that felt. But I couldn’t help but think about the fact that his forever and mine are not the same.
Every moment matters. That’s why I try to capture as many as I can in the only way I can, with my camera. One of the best things about all of our technological portable devices is that capturing those moments is now made easier by the camera that’s almost always at our fingertips.
And, I’ve added something new to my photo repertoire. I don’t just take pictures and have them stay buried in the abyss of the “Camera roll” on my phone. I have discovered the joy of having those photos printed and displayed all over my house. That way, as I pass through my day, I am constantly reminded of the moments that make me happiest.
PS – Full disclosure….here’s how I free those photos from my phone and get them up on my wall or send as gifts . You can too…email right from your phone or computer your fav photo to grand@myphotoandgo.com then in seconds check your email.
