MOM SENDS STORY-TELLING LETTERS THROUGH SNAIL MAIL. IT’S A GREAT GIFT FOR GRANDCHILDREN.
When Wendy Lattimore’s son was little, he did not like to read. She was dismayed and determined to get him reading. She knew he loved getting mail, so she created a character, SUNNY the MAIL SNAIL and sent him a weekly letter from “Sunny.” “Sunny” wrote to her son, Tucker, every week about his exciting, silly, adventures delivering mail to other animals around the world.
It worked! Her son started reading, learned about the world, and learned so much about animals. Plus, he felt so important getting his own mail every week.
Wendy recently decided to share these letters and encourage reading and imagination with kids around the world! She turned Sunny the Mail Snail into a stuffed animal and started a gift subscription service called Snail Mail for Kids. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles can sign up to get their kids a weekly letter from Sunny, for one month, three months, six months or a whole year! Learn more here: www.snailmailforkids.com
“…kids who have been getting Sunny’s letters for a while are literally running to the mailbox every week.”
Each of Sunny’s letters also come with an animal trading card and small souvenir from all of his adventures. And, kids can collect the trading cards to solve a secret code for a special gift.
“It’s important to get young kids off electronics and reading as much as possible.”
Wendy said the kids who have been getting Sunny’s letters for a while are literally running to the mailbox every week. They snuggle with the Sunny stuffed animal while they read his letters.
It’s important to get young kids off electronics and reading as much as possible. Plus, getting old-fashioned mail makes them feel so important. Although we cannot personally put a book in the hands of children everywhere, we can get a letter in their hands, every week. So, it’s like getting a book chapter every week!
