Ba-chan the Ninja Grandma: An Adventure with Little Kunoichi the Ninja Girl
By Jeanette Perkins aka Beeba
Author/Illustrator: Sanae Ishida Age range: 5-9
Little Kunoichi’s parents decide it is time for her to visit to her wise, quirky, and creative ninja grandma, Ba-chan when Kunoichi complains of summer boredom. Little Kunoichi, joined by her little brother and Bunny, is excited for her visit. They are met with many surprises as they spend time with Ba-chan on an island she made herself. Together they learn that curiosity, resourcefulness, love, and imagination have more value than things money can buy.
This book is a great mix of imagination, quirky illustrations and information on Japanese culture. There is a cute poem emphasizing the things in life more valuable than money. There is also a page explaining many of the foods, objects and Japanese customs mentioned in the book.
