The Art Box Academy – A Grand Way To Connect With Your Grandkids
By Lauren Dennis-Perelmuter
A dear friend of mine in San Francisco called me four years ago and said “please help me find more art projects for my son! I am going through everything and really don’t know what to do!” As I sat in our Los Angeles Art To Grow On Inc. offices and looked at over 60 lessons that we bring to schools as an Art Enrichment provider, I knew her second-grader would love our Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture lesson. I packed it up, put it in a box, called UPS, and within a few days, her son was creating works of art all day long. Little did I know that the phone call that I received that day would lead to the launch of our new sister company, The Art Box Academy.
This is the time for all children to truly develop and strengthen new pathways so they too can be innovative, resilient, creative, and optimal problem solvers.
Since opening its doors in Los Angeles in 2000, Art To Grow On Children’s Art Center has been on a mission bringing art enrichment programs to public and private elementary schools, corporate daycare centers, preschools, camps, and more. Making something from nothing? We say it’s a “Life Essential Skill”…and now more so then ever.
At this moment, as we all are going through a time of shifting and pivoting, creative resilience is essential. Our Signature Monthly Art Boxes in addition to our Summer Camp in a Box are filled with Great Master Artist lessons like Van Gogh and Matisse in addition to extra projects and activities that sharpen critical thinking, enhance problem-solving, and strengthen those grit and perseverance pathways. It also provides a very much needed platform for joy and connection.
This is the time for all children to truly develop and strengthen new pathways so they too can be innovative, resilient, creative, and optimal problem solvers.

About the Author – Lauren Dennis-Perelmuter
When I first began bringing art enrichment programs to Southern California students 20 years ago, I knew that all children should be able to have art in their lives. There were still programs in the schools, but I was beginning to see art, music, dance, and theater programs diminish as curriculum priorities. I have seen firsthand in our classrooms the benefits of engaging in the creative process.
