From Russia With Love
There’s been plenty of media coverage around questionable behavior coming from Russia. It’s also fair to say, there are many good things that come from Russia. Immediately what comes to mind is Beluga caviar, classical ballet, thought-provoking literature, and plot-twisting storytelling. But, that’s not all.
“Fair warning, some of the readings have adult and colorful words.”
Recently, GRAND Magazine was introduced to Alexander Tsypkin, a popular Russian writer, and his spoken-word album entitled Sammynolie and other stories. With translation help from American stage, film, and TV director, Paul Lazarus, Alexander has brought to life ten of his hand-picked short stories read by popular and talented actors for our listening pleasure.
Each of the ten stories has its own distinctive appeal and delight. While listening to the talented storytellers, it feels like they’re sitting right there in the room with you. It’s the combination of the words and how they are read. The arrangement draws you deeper into the story and the stories have a way of shutting out everything else around you. It’s an escape from our crazy world. And what’s not to love about that?!
Fair warning, some of the readings have adult and colorful words. If hearing a few hardcore words offends you, then you might prefer to download the written stories instead. These entertaining stories (both the spoken and the written) can be found on the website Tsypkin Stories. tsypkinstories.com Stories can be purchased for download for merely $1.30 each or $10 for all 10.
“Sammynolie and other stories” features Jason Alexander reading QUOTES (OR LETTERS FROM ISRAEL) ● Danny Burstein – RAMBO AND THE ROTTWEILER ● Tim Daly – SAMMYNOLIE ● Rachel Dratch – ONE IN A MILLION ● Dulé Hill – THE WINDOW ● Stacy Keach – MADO ● Nancy Opel – HEAVEN HATES THE TRUTH ● Michael Urie – CHESHIRE CAT ● Vanessa Williams – SHOVELING SNOW ● Noah Wyle – SANTA CLAUS #2
