There is an app for that as well: Splitwise. With the help of this app, you can keep track of all your expenses that you share with other people, whether friends or family. 

Just enter the expense information i.e., how much to owe, how much you paid, and to whom you owe, and then tag the person(s). You can also add the amount that your friends need to return to you and tag them in Splitwise.

After paying the amount, the user can change the status to paid. This app is pretty handy and helps to keep track of all our expenses.
