Each year, Orange County Week of the Family searches for its Grandparent of the Year. They seek nominations, review them thoroughly, and then make a decision.
This year’s winner is Ethel Pierce, also known as Ms Ep
Here is the winning entry:
I am honored to nominate a truly remarkable grandmother for Grandparent of the Year. Ms. EP’s dedication to her two grandsons is evident in everything she does. She is a constant source of love and support. She is present for the important moments, the everyday moments, and everything in between, making a lasting and meaningful difference in their lives.
I had the pleasure of witnessing her coming through the car line at school for many years to make sure the boys made it home safely. She was always at school meetings, whether she was advocating for her grandsons or sharing information she always did it with love. Her involvement extends far beyond simply being there for her grandsons.
Ms. EP served on the PTA for many years and continues still today. Whether helping at school events, lending a hand when needed, or simply being a familiar and encouraging face on campus, she brings enthusiasm and kindness wherever she goes.
Her commitment to the school demonstrated just how much she cares about creating a positive experience for all students. She is truly everyone’s grandma. Ms. EP is certainly a wonderful grandmother to her two grandsons, but her love and compassion do not stop there. She has become a grandmother-like figure to so many children throughout the school and community, offering encouragement, kindness, and support to kids who may not even be her own grandchildren. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of the title of Grandparent of the Year.
